NICE Personnel Visit Parliament

The National Initiative for Civic Education NICE) members of staff on June 29, 2010 visited The National Assembly with an aim of conducting a general observation of the house’s proceedings and to learn from the discussions, on how Parliamentarians deliberate on different issues of national importance 

The visit served as an eye-opener to NICE staff members, since they observed how democracy is practiced in the house and how individuals expresses themselves on issues being discussed.

IDASA in partnership with NICE

The Institute for Democracy in South Africa (IDASA) recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the National Initiative for Civic Education (NICE) in order to continue to develop and expand a framework of cooperation between the two projects and to cooperate in regard to mutually beneficial activities in Malawi and regional levels of intervention related to democratic development and good governance in southern Africa.

Latest Event

As a part of its delegated mandate from the Electoral Commission (EC), all NICE district offices throughout the country played a critical role in organizing and coordinating civic and voter education debates on the various electoral processes leading up to the May 2009 Presidential and Parlamentary Elections. In this task, the NICE political debates were innovative, efficient and cost effective in conjunction with various key partners such as District Assemblies (DAs) and Community Based Organisations (CBOs).
